Hempstead, NY - April 2011

The Zeta Chapter Alumni Association (ZCAA) was established at the chapter's 20th Anniversary Banquet held at the University Club on Saturday, April 10, 2010.  Overwhelming support from all Alumni in attendance of a petition presented by Bro. Dennis H. Camacho "Latino Dinamico" Fall 1992, Member of the Board of Trustees initiated the Association.  This past year, under the guidance of Bro. Camacho, the Association worked towards affiliation with Hofstra University's Alumni House and Alumni Organization to assist in developing its vast alumni base and with the future of the organization on campus.  With the assistance of Bro. Javier Lora "PaceƱo" Fall 1994 and Bro. Michael Martinez "Zion" Spring 2009, Zeta Chapter President final drafts of the Association's constitution and Alumni roster with over 57 Zeta Chapter Brothers was submitted for consideration on April 14, 2011.  On Thursday, April 27, 2011 Hofstra University's Alumni Organization voted to accept the ZCAA as its newest Affinity Group. The first African and Latino Fraternal Sororal Alliance group to do so.  The Association was accepted under the official title of Zeta Chapter Alumni Association of Hofstra University Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity Inc. Est. 1931 The Oldest Latino Fraternity In Existence.

Hofstra University's Alumni House will work with the ZCAA on its mission to develop its Alumni Base, become a support network for the Zeta Chapter and to ultimately become a resource for the advancement of the Latino Community on campus in the spirit of Phi Iota Alpha's National Mission. Ultimately, the ZCAA intends to establish scholarships and endowments through the university dedicated to Zeta Chapter undergraduate members, students admitted into the New Opportunities at Hofstra (NOAH) Program, Hofstra's Organization of Latin Americans (H.O.L.A.) and the African and Latino Fraternal Sororal Alliance (A.L.F.S.A.).  These groups have historically been integral to the development of the Zeta Chapter and its members since the chapter's founders crossed into the realm in the Spring of 1990.  The Association will be electing its executive leadership soon and looks forward to working with the campus, the brotherhood, family and friends on the Association's future endeavors.
